Finally, after 25 days, Israel gave a strong response to Iran for the attacks on it. On October 26, at around 2:15 a.m., Israel launched a barrage of over 100 missiles on Iran. This continued until 5:00 a.m. In this attack, Israel used 100 fighter jets to destroy 20 military bases, missile factories, and several arms depots in Iran. Iran has also confirmed that Israel attacked its three provinces — Ilam, Khuzestan, and Tehran. According to Iranian officials, the damage from these attacks was minimal, with many missiles being destroyed in the air. There are reports of two Iranian soldiers being killed in the attack.
In recent days, Israel conducted airstrikes that killed Hezbollah’s chief, Hassan Nasrallah, and Hamas’ chief, Ismail Haniyeh. In response, on October 1, Iran launched a barrage of 200 missiles on Israel. After Iran’s action, Israel warned Iran of severe consequences. Subsequently, many Western media outlets reported that Israel might target Iran’s oil factories and nuclear sites. Israel also hinted at such actions, sparking discussions in the Middle East and Western countries.
When U.S. President Joe Biden was asked by a journalist, “Will Israel attack Iran’s oil factories and nuclear sites?” Biden advised Israel against it and stated that the U.S. would not support such actions. Following this, Israel revised its strategy.
Israel first destroyed Syria’s radar system, and before entering Iran, it took down Iran’s air defense and radar systems. Israel used the F-35 fighter jet in this attack, which has a speed of up to 2,000 kilometers per hour and is capable of both air-to-air and air-to-ground attacks.
Saudi Arabia condemned the attack on Iran, calling it a violation of international law and sovereignty. Meanwhile, the U.S. described Israel’s action against Iran as a defensive measure.
Israel issued a statement saying that this action was in response to the October 1 attack on Israel. Since October 7, 2023, last year, Israel has been attacked on seven different fronts by Iran and its allies. These fronts include Iran, Syria, Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Houthi rebels in Yemen, Shia forces in Iraq, and cyber warfare.
